It is pushing away dull, monotone trends, and bringing forward original, current designs. It is staking its powerful claim in the fashion world. This new look is simply called the oversized proportion. But trust me, this kooky trend is far from simple!

This fresh look for fall is full of extreme optimism and eye-catching appeal. Rather than being typical mainstream, it contains loud, unique elements that are large, wide, and long! It has energetic volume and shameless attitude. Rather than uncomfortable tightness, it embraces loose stretchiness and free, uplifting comfort.  With comical dimensions, playful intensities, and pinnacle heights of substance and eccentricity, this look is enjoyably witty and dramatically ready for fall.

The sensationally theatric, electrifyingly impressive, oversized look appears in many different ways. It could be a tall, lengthy coat, or an extravagantly ruffled, feminine, artistic gown. It could be an enigmatic, wide dress, or a modern tweed suit with an of whack twist. The look enters the sphere of the abstract. It takes the journey to the future. It enters the classic cosmos. It beautifies in the nature of simplicity. It envelops the chimerical, heavenly enchanting, romantic universe. Hats could be worn for many different reasons…

They could be worn for protection against enviornmental elemants. They could be worn for religious reasons–celebrations of devotion and praise. They could be worn as a safety precaution, as a head-cover against mighty, strong objects. They could be worn to denote one’s nationality or military regiment.

Or…

Hats could be worn as something daring and wild. Hats could be worn as something elegant and sophisticated. Hats are wonderfully aesthetic fashion accessories!

For Fall 2012, hats are very much in style. They have been seen on the runways countless times–from dark fur head pieces to Dr. Seuss-like appeals. They have been seen in the stores in numerous, zany ways–colors of hot pink, powder blue, moss green, and chocolate brown. They have been seen in magazines–in lush editorials and photo shoots with meaning and detail. Hats are truly everywhere!

Hats have been in the fashion world for ages! They have been in style since the times of early Greece and Rome. They have transformed significantly through the ages. From petasos to veils to hoods to caps. From top hats to bonnets to cloche hats. From skull caps to turban pieces to felt hats. From dainty lightness to flamboyent wearable art pieces, hats have returned with emotion, lust, and pure, raw desire.

On the runways for this Fall, hats have arisen to popularity once again. They have arrived under the sparkling runway lights. They have developed into designs of creativity and pleasure. The styles of these hats range from fur accents to ornamented textures. They cover a wide spectrum of kooky appeal and uncomplicated grace. They cover a color spectrum of bright, jeweled hues to subtle, muted tones. A mad-hatter appeal, a rich, luxurious want, a vintage old age admiration…these hats are remarkable.

With Marc Jacobs “Alice in Wonderland” inspiration and Louis Vuitton extravagancy, with Roberto Cavalli’s feathered masterpieces, with Anna Sui’s playful owls, with Ralph Lauren’s ’20s boyish allure and charm, and with Missoni’s fur fancies, …it is clear that the hats are soaring into the atmosphere of fashion!

The wagons come to a stop, the horses are hitched on, the materials are unloaded ..

The stakes are driven, the poles are up, the canvases are unrolled and laced together ..

The horses begin to move forward, the men begin to pull, the canvas begins to rise ..

The enormous “Big Top” rises above the clouds.

The circus has come to town…

Picture yourself in an atmosphere of thrill and excitement. Picture yourself in a world of danger, talent, mystery, and color. Picture yourself at the circus. The sun is shining. The noise is booming. The laughter is singing in the air. The aura of the setting is breathtaking–an exotic place of movement, joy, and beauty. Entertainment reigns supreme. The ceremonies begin, the march tunes scream with vigor. Little kids run to the animals and the performers. People begin to run to a new, undiscovered world of brightness.

Under the big top, aerialists are swinging and flipping, as if they were floating in the air. Lions, tigers, and panthers are growling in strength and determination. Clowns are running around, driving in little toy cars, with make up caked on their faces. Wire walkers perform on dangerous high wires, tightly keen to perception. The ringmaster’s voice booms, full of energy and enthusiasm. The lights dim as the show begins.

Dating back to the early 20th C., circuses have attracted the young and the old, regardless of personal bias, culture, or judgement. They are enchanting and captivating. They rule in their entertaining glory. Circuses appeal to the senses. The eyes see a glittering spectacle. The nose smells popcorn and hot dogs. The ears hear amusement and glee. Circuses are creative in their outer and inner appearance. Circuses are, most importantly, creative in fashion.

Circus fashion and costume is fascinating. It has an indisputable allure and an adventurous quality. The costumes illuminate with zest. The costumes sparkle with charm and flavor. These costumes represent timeless cultures, ethnic wonderments . They reflect on freedom. They relish in their individual liberties and bewitching qualities. Circus fashions are undaunted by social constrictions. Circus fashions are neither timid nor shy. As the trapeze artists fly and the performers dance, elaborate costumes full of glitter, shine, and flare grace their bodies. Magical fashions of theatrical artistry overwhelm the spectacle. Leotards, corsets, headpieces, sequins, and stripes…this is the fashion of the circus. And this remarkable fashion has reappeared in a wonderful Resort Collection for 2013…

Street style is simply breathtaking. It has character, quality, and individuality. It catches eyes and manifests color, texture, and image. Full of zest and life, street style is full of creative dreams. It intensifies the dynamics of the city street. It absorbs the essence of unique design. It savors expression and risk. With street style, no two looks are the same–the diversity of the style embraces the inner conscious. With street style, the mind thinks on its own accord. It is an outlet to fierce energy and strong courage. There is no fear–there is only awed animation.

The style livens up the soul. The style brightens up the streets. The style is unparalleled.

With modern technology, there is progress, advancement, and calculation. There is a desire to see new things, discover new formulaic approaches, delve into a world of electronic glory. But with this modern technology comes a loss of the raw beauty and simplicity of the past. This rising, modern culture overwhelms the still wonderful, breathtaking culture of those memorable years ago. The past, however, is making a comeback. It is rising above modernity in a photographically passionate way. The remembrance of past individualities, excellencies, and daring emotional activities is being brought to life once again. Goodbye to color…

And hello to black and white!

One of my great loves in this massive fashion universe is the magical world of Haute Couture. Combining luxurious fabrics, custom fitted designs, and elegant, time-consuming stitchings, haute couture is attentive and beautiful. When a model walks down the runway in a couture piece, one cannot help but become transfixed by its detailed texture and creative, wealthy quality. Haute couture is admirable in its dramatic shine and flare.

From sheer draping to printed florals, from beaded jewels to a wondrous essence, haute couture gowns and fashions are filled with exuberant taste, grace, and inventiveness. With fashion and style comes uniqueness. There is expression, ornamentation, and freedom. Throughout the world, fashion dominates in its design, texture, and mass appeal. Although I typically write about fashion styles, trends, and looks, for today, I decided to simply show fashion through photographs.

Photography is a medium that captures fashion in a way that is distinguished and extraordinary. In photographs, fashion is illustrated as if it is a work of art. A scene is set. A model is chosen. A style of dress is decided. Photography gives the viewer a deeper sense of understanding. It gives off powerful emotions; it conveys meaning and feeling. It is raw, honest, and artistic.

One particular world of fashion, street style, is greatly depicted by photography. Whether it is on the streets of New York City, Paris, or London, photography allows these daring street style looks to come to life. Let’s take a look…

Showgirls Bejeweled!

Bold, sparkling, and fun, Dolce Gabbana’s famous bodysuits are unforgettable. Closing the Spring 2012 RTW show with a bang, these jeweled corsets exuded a playful, optimistic energy, with an undeniable daring quality. This garment, which has a long history with the brand, has appeared on the runway, in magazines, and on celebrities. It makes a significant presence. It lacks simplicity and relishes in its unique flavor!

This bustier-like bodice is truly beautiful in its colorful embellishments and its eye-catching appeal. Colors of pink, red, green, yellow, gold, black, blue, and purple. Shapes of circles, rectangles, ovals, and triangles. The diversity and creativeness is evident! With a showgirl like appeal, these artistic pieces look as if they were made for the theatre. With their sparkling, alluring quality, it is as if an actress was singing and dancing on a warm, bright stage.

If one of these inventive, inviting corsets had to be my favorite, it would definitely be the one above. Adorning its fabric are rich jewels with a thrilling symmetrical pattern. Extravagantly decorated, the color, the richness, and the flavor of this lingerie piece is impeccable. There is even an addition of a peplum-like circular shape to the waist. There is an inescapable quality of beauty and wonder in this piece. The detailing is exquisite. The artistic attributes are readily apparent. With a sheer midsection revealed, this loud corset is both thrilling and exciting!

Elaborately embellished, colorfully chic, and individually incredible, these confident Dolce and Gabbana lush corsets are electric, special, and most importantly, memorable!

The Oscars of the East Coast

As Bruno Mars said before performing last night, “Hello Fashion!”

Who doesn’t love the Met ball?

Last night, the red carpet of the East Coast was ablaze with A-listers, designers, models, and the who’s who of the fashion world. The 2012 Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which celebrated the new exhibit “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations,” left a lasting impression! Hosted once every year, this event leaves an impact on the fashion world that is undeniable. From gowns to suits, from neutrals to brights–the fashion was not a disappointment! Bright reds and whites, metallic shine, transparent sheer, fringy texture–there were so many bold risks! Here are my favorite looks from the night…

Scaly, metallic shine–this dress was incredible! Carey Mulligan looked absolutely beautiful in this fish gill-like sequined Prada dress! This dress is both fierce and stunning. Shining gold and transforming into a silvery blue, this high neck Prada number was truly amazing! With a pinched in waist and rounding out at the knee, Mulligan looked incredible! Pairing it off with simple satin tan heels, this aquatic, sci-fi look was one of the best of the Gala!

Beyoncé, do you ever not look beautiful? Beyoncé looked exceptional last night on the red carpet! This sheer Givenchy Haute Couture gown by Riccardo Tisci was magnificent! With sparkling flowered black embroidery and a feathery black and purple train, this dress was astounding! This tasteful gown showed off Beyoncé’s post-baby body in a way that is unforgettable! Dramatic, bold, transparent, and artistic–this gown was definitely a winner!

Cabernet colored lips and a slinky Deco inspired Ralph Lauren dress–Camilla Belle looked phenomenal! This ivory tulle beaded dress was really stunning! Belle truly shined on the Met Gala’s red carpet this year! She looked classic and chic! Dark hair pinned up, face refined, and vintage Ralph Lauren jewels, Belle’s look was sultry and appealing!

The looks of this year’s Met ball were simply incredible! Fashion came out in full force as unique and marvelous gowns graced the red carpet! The Met Ball is an amazing event and I am sure the new exhibit is terrific!

It is time to crop those customary suits and color them bold!

Suits are undergoing a transition…from reserved and stiff to loud and fun!

When one pictures a suit, they typically think of the “typical black-suit” with a tailored blazer and a pair of slacks. The colors are usually neutral with the typical, muted look. The designs are usually minimal with a professional and traditional appearance. Let’s face it,  the typical suit is conservative. There are no thrilling characteristics–nothing that gives it that perfect, individual sparkle….

However, for this spring, the runways are heating up with a new kind of suit that is both chic and exciting! Say goodbye to dark and subtle and hello to bright and bold! Say goodbye to long and dull and hello to short and sweet!

Who needs pants when you can have shorts?

This redefined Prabal Gurung suit is new, sleek, and lively! Dominating and creative, this great, individual suit is structured and appealing! The shiny silk black blazer (with white rectangular lapels and simple pocketed design) and the silky purple shorts make the whole outfit complete! With manipulated purple floral prints on a matching, beautiful blouse, this newly developed short suit gives work fashion a whole new meaning! The outfit is youthful, adventurous, and cultured! It is not what is typically expected and that is what makes it all the more enticing!

Gladiators and goddesses, basics and studs, Versace delved into feelings of power, confidence, and class for this spring. This white suit above is absolutely perfect! Designed with a clean white coloration and accented with golden studs, this short suit look is a mixture of femininity with a rough edge! Past suits are long forgotten with this reformed suit’s simplistic white tailored shorts and studded cropped jacket and shirt. With an aesthetic design and shiny golden pumps, this whole outfit gives off personality and determination!

This eye-catching spring trend is certainly inviting! With an array of colors, textures, and designs, there are so many possibilities! As the sun shines and the flowers bloom this spring, put on a sharp short suit and relish in its charm and allure!
